One of my favorite parts of being a family photographer is getting to watch families grow year after year. When clients keep coming back, it starts to feel like catching up with old friends instead of just another session. This sweet family is one of those for me, and every time we get together it’s full of laughter, personality, and a little bit of adventure.

This year’s family photo session took place just outside Franklin, Idaho, at a beautiful sod farm where Neesa works. It turned out to be the perfect location for family photos. The wide green fields, open skies, and peaceful country setting made such a stunning backdrop. One of the things I love most about photographing families in Cache Valley and the Preston, Idaho area is how many naturally beautiful locations we have right here close to home.

And this session had it all.

We had the whole crew there, including grandma and even some furry family members. Adding pets to a session always brings so much personality and fun to the photos. There’s something special about capturing families exactly as they are in their real life — a little wild, a little messy, and full of love.

The kids brought so much energy and personality, which made the entire session feel relaxed and natural. We spent the evening exploring the fields, letting the kids play, and capturing those in-between moments that really tell a family’s story.

As the sun started to set behind the western mountains, the light turned golden and soft — the kind of evening photographers dream about. Watching that sunset over the fields in Franklin, Idaho was the perfect ending to a really beautiful session.

Sessions like this remind me why I love being a family photographer serving Preston, Idaho and the greater Cache Valley area. These photos aren’t just for today — they’re memories that families will look back on for years to come.

And when I get to document those memories year after year for the same families, it makes this work even more meaningful.
